Women that have very large breasts, find that they can be social and functional barriers. Female athletes have a difficult time performing to their fullest capacity due to large breasts. Some patient’s can even experience upper back pain due to the excess weight that large breasts pose. In order to perform this procedure, the surgeon creates an incision around the areola, and in the lower portion of the breast. Fat and glandular tissue is physically removed from the breast in order to minimize size of the breasts. Next, the nipple and areola are positioned so that they have the most aesthetically pleasing result. The resulting scar is very similar to an anchor mastopexy.
