Breast Lift

Home  /  Breast Surgery  /  Breast Lift

In some patient’s gravity and breast-feeding take a toll on a woman’s breasts. The result is sagging of the breasts that many women find undesirable. After having a breast lift, most women report a dramatic increase in self-confidence, which allows them to perform their daily activities at a higher level. In order to rejuvenate a woman’s breasts the surgeon can perform a variety of techniques to lift the breast.

About the surgery

Preparation: Reduce smoking and alcoholic beverages
Anesthesia: Sedation + Local Anesthesia
OR time: 2:00 to 2:30 hours
Recovery time in hospital: 1 to 2 days
Recovery period after discharge: 1 week
Return to Work: 10 days after discharge

Periareolar Mastopexy

One of these techniques is the periareolar (doughnut) mastopexy. In this procedure the surgeon makes the incision around the areola, in order to lift the breasts. Women with small asymmetry are ideal candidates for this procedure. Women with excessive sagging are not good candidates for this procedure.

Vertical Mastopexy

The second technique is called a vertical (lollipop) mastopexy. The surgeon makes a circular incision in addition to a vertical incision to the lower part of the breast. This technique is recommended for women with low to moderate drooping of the breasts. Women with excessive sagging of their breasts are not good candidates for this technique.

Anchor Mastopexy

This technique is recommended for women with increased drooping of their breasts. Post-bariatric patients, or patients that have lost significant amounts of weight, are great candidates for this procedure. To perform the lift, the surgeon makes a circular incision around the areola in addition to two triangle shaped incisions on the bottom of the breast. The resultant scar takes the form of an anchor, which is where this procedure gets its name from.
